Ulster Hockey have now finalised the league positions using percentage equalisation (essentially the number of points gained divided by the number of games played). Positions are available to view on the Ulster Hockey website – see link https://ulsterhockey.com/ulster-hockey-leagues-2019-20-final-positions/ On the other hand Hockey Ireland terminated the EYHL season and voided the season. As such the final league positions of the club teams is as follows:
1. First XI remain in EYHL 1
2. Second XI have been relegated (by half a percent) into Junior League 2 – with still having seven games to play
3. Third XI – safe from relegation at this stage – although Ulster Hockey are considering restructuring the leagues due to an imbalance in the number of teams in Junior Leagues 2, 3 and 4 (12, 10 and 8 teams respectively). If things remain as they are there could be two interesting Annadale 2nds vs 3rds derby matches next season.
4. The mighty 4th XI finished third in Junior League 4 and just missed out on promotion, having been in second place prior to percentage equalisation being implemented.
